Throughout the years there have always been a bit of a negative aura surrounding our country , with apartheid hanging like a noose around our necks, and today still it seems that not only those from other countries but even our own people have become extremely pessimistic about South Africa. They have many reasons for this negativity: A bad economy, the employment situation for young people, expensive cost of food and fuel, crime, roads in bad condition, racism, murder etc. Even though most of these things are real and present in our everyday lives in South Africa (and in the rest of the world); it doesn’t make sense to moan and groan about it all day long. Instead, why not try doing something about it? Or at least look at the bright side of life and spot the many positive things going on in our country at the moment!

In a year’s time the Soccer World Cup will be hosted here and will bring many new experiences into all of our lives and I really am excited about it. Although the economy probably isn’t that good, I wouldn’t say it affects everyone that bad. We definitely don’t feel it to our pockets… With the Soccer World Cup in mind, many of our roads have been enlarged and improved/repaired, and South Africa is getting its very first state-of-the-art rapid rail network called the Gautrain and will be situated in the Gauteng province [link] !

To me it’s a true blessing to be South African, born and bred. South Africa is so outrageously colorful and alive with culture and talent, it’s almost too good to be true! To add to the diversity, South Africa has 11 official languages and over 14 different cultural groups living in the country [link] ! Plus we are blessed to be living in such a beautiful country and to be sharing it with some of the world’s friendliest and warm people. Need proof of this?
